English-speaker naming guide

Find a Chinese name for my English name.

For people searching by English-name conversion, especially when they want a Chinese name that is not just Google Translate output.

1. Use your full name

A foreign user usually needs a Chinese surname and a given name, not only a translated first name.

2. Keep it short

Two or three Chinese characters are easier to use than a long sound-only transcription.

3. Explain every character

A name is safer when each character has a positive, culturally readable meaning.

4. Check public examples

Names such as 陆克文, 骆家辉 and 洪博培 show how public Chinese names balance sound and dignity.

Start with the name engine

The surname should be handled separately from the given name, because Chinese full names put the family name first.

Route 2 Transliteration
约翰 · 莱顿 · 斯图尔特

Pure sound transliteration. It imitates pronunciation directly and has no special meaning or cultural depth.

John Leighton Stuart is shown as an educational historical public-name example. 司徒雷登 is his established Chinese name. No endorsement is implied.

Why not just translate it?

Direct transliteration often creates long names that sound foreign and may carry accidental meanings. Good Chinese Name separates surname matching, given-name meaning, pinyin, element imagery and practical use so the result can be spoken, remembered and explained.
