Origin note

Huan/桓 is a multi-source surname. One legendary layer traces it to Huangdi's minister Huanchang. More historical surname-book layers derive it from posthumous titles: descendants of Qi Huangong in the Jiang-surname Qi line and descendants of Song Huangong in the Zi-surname Song line used Huan as surname. A further ethnic changed-surname layer comes from Xianbei Wuwan. The page presents these separately.
