Origin note

Ji/暨 is mainly a fief-name surname in the checked sources. One layer says descendants of Pengzu or Da Peng were enfeoffed at Ji and used the place name as surname. Another layer treats Ji as a changed form of Gai, connected with the Wu royal line and Fugai. Hao86 also preserves a Zhuji Ying / Yue context layer; it is recorded separately rather than merged into the Pengzu line.
