Origin note
Kuai/蒯 is a multi-layer surname. One source layer makes it a state-name surname from ancient Kuaiguo. A second layer links it to Spring and Autumn Jin official Kuaide, whose descendants used his Kuai fief as surname. A third layer connects some branches with Wei prince Kuaikui as an ancestor-name layer. These are presented separately, not collapsed into one legend.
