Origin note
Shu/殳 is not explained only from the weapon graph. One layer traces it to a Jiang-surname / Yan Emperor descendant tradition in which Boling's third son Shu became the eponymous ancestor. A second layer treats the ancient bamboo weapon shu as an object or military-name surname. A third line, preserved in later surname summaries, links Shu to a Youyu figure named Shu Qiang. The page keeps these traditions separate.
