A major Sun tradition comes from the Ji-surname line of the state of Wei. In this account, descendants of Wei Kangshu include Wei Wugong and Hui Sun; later Sun Yi, styled Wuzhong, used the ancestor's Sun element as the family name. Other Sun branches are also recorded, including Chu and Qi-related lines.
