Origin note

is mainly a Lu-state aristocratic surname. The strongest source-backed line comes from Gongzi Kou, a son of Lu Xiao Gong, who held a fief at Zang; descendants used the fief name or the ancestral style name Zi Zang as a surname. Jiapu explains that this branch later split into Zangsun and Zang, with Zangsun also sometimes shortened to Zang. A second source layer comes from Cao state: Gongzi Xinshi, a son of Cao Xuan Gong, had the style name Zi Zang, and descendants are also recorded as using Zang as a surname. Because both layers use ancestral names connected with Lu or Cao nobility, the page keeps them as parallel Ji-surname lines rather than a single exclusive origin.
